About Me
NATHANIEL BROWNING
Choosing a degree in Design for Film & Theatre was a no-brainer for me because it combines my love of film, construction, problem solving and design all into one amazing combo.
To me there’s nothing quite as enjoyable as the challenge of building complex sets and creating high quality props. I try and use a variety of mediums, whilst also making sure to incorporate recycled and reused materials where possible for environmental sustainability and cost effectiveness.
I have worked on a variety of projects from creating props, sets and costumes for sixth form college musical productions, including The Lion King, West Side Story and Billy Elliott. My work experience with the Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) opened my eyes to how an internationally renowned theatre is run and I gained valuable knowledge and skills from working at a professional prop company during my summer breaks – not to mention building giant mushrooms for the pantomime season. Despite the differences in projects, large and small, I always bring the same levels of energy and enthusiasm and happily go ‘the extra mile’.
In order to learn as much as I can about every aspect of my trade, I have attended additional courses and sought out opportunities to work during my holidays. This has enabled me to broaden my knowledge and continue expanding my skillset by learning from other professionals.
