St Mary’s College (SMC) is one of the first Royal Shakespeare Company (RSC) Lead Associate Schools. Having piloted the scheme for the RSC, St Mary’s established partnerships with other secondary, primary and special schools in the region.

The partnership also includes a regional venue, Hull Truck Theatre, enabling students to take part in an annual theatre festival at a professional venue, or within the purpose built theatre at St Mary’s.

As well enhancing the innovative teaching and performing of Shakespeare, the partnership enabled me and other students from other partner schools, the opportunity to visit the RSC at Stratford upon Avon, see live productions and learn from the experts, as part of their residential work experience programme.

We constructed and decorated a small set for a recreation of a scene from Shakespeares 'Tempest'.

Shakespeare’s tale of family, magic and revenge is brought to life in this visually striking production from the Royal Shakespeare Company.
