CHINESE APOTHECARY

For this module my classmates and I have focused on designing and building a full size interior of a Chinese apothecary.
This set was recreated and built full size to use in collaboration with the BA (Hons) Film, TV and Theatre Production students, as part of their script-writing module. Various scenes will be filmed on this set.

The set reflects the richness of China from around 1820. After extensive research and design work for the interior, we collaborated as a group and constructed it in detail, utilising a mixture of our chosen designs.

The set was fully dressed with furniture and antiques we sourced from street markets, stores, online websites and then adapted to fit with the style and period of the set. Because the set was to be captured using high definition cameras, we spent a considerable amount of time and effort, refining and adding a detailed finish to the set. This ensured that we met our sustainability targets, reusing existing pieces and recycled materials, whilst working to film industry standards.
